This male Rose-breasted Grosbeak is shelling sunflower seeds so gracefully and with such perfection. He is constantly on-guard and ready to flee at the slightest movement. They are very shy birds and will bolt quickly into dense cover.
In 2000 when this video was taken, the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were considered a "rare" bird in Oregon. However, since that time, they have become a regular visitor to Oregon and are no longer considered to be on the "rare" bird list in Oregon.
